Maria Allan, MA, LPC
Maria Allan | Therapist
Hello, my name is Maria! I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Chicago and my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University. Before joining Marvelous Minds, I gained experience working with individuals and couples across a range of life stages and challenges. My goal in the counseling room is to walk alongside you by creating an atmosphere of safety, respect, and trust.
In counseling, I strive to help children, adults, and couples move toward holistic wellness. I draw on evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Person-Centered Therapy, and Habit Reversal Training. I also integrate creative techniques—including play and art—to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs. Through these approaches, I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and other mood-related challenges, as well as those working through relationship concerns, stress management, self-esteem, grief, and boundary-setting. My approach is trauma-informed, recognizing that every person’s life story is unique.
I became a counselor because I am continually inspired by the human capacity for hope and joy, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. That sense of resilience—and my passion for helping people grow—fuels my work. As a counselor, I bring warmth, humor, and acceptance to help clients feel at ease throughout the process.
As a Colorado native, I love all things outdoors! My favorite pastimes include snowboarding, running, and camping. I’m also an avid reader and am currently making my way through the Harry Potter series (but don’t tell me how it ends!).
