Hello, my name is Melanie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am excited to join the Marvelous Minds’ team. I believe the foundation of therapy is the safe and trusting relationship between the client and therapist. This allows for my clients to blossom and thrive. 

After working in residentially structured horticulture therapy for about a year, I returned to Marquette University to get my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I earned a child and adolescent specialization and have experience working with youth between the ages 2-18. I have worked in ABA and crisis/inpatient settings, treating symptoms related to behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, and so forth. I have also worked with youth struggling with trauma, mood, and/or personality disorders, and behavioral issues. 

My overall approach to therapy could be described as holistic, as I try to incorporate as many important pieces of the child’s life as possible. With a focus on evidence-based practices, I utilize aspects of CBT, DBT, and interpersonal therapies. I also incorporate trauma-informed care and strengths-based interventions with all of my clients. Additionally, I enjoy using art, play, music, and other creative applications in therapy. I strive to meet each client where they’re at which includes acknowledging that each child is unique (as will be their therapy!). I look forward to meeting you and creating lasting change together! 

When I’m not working with you all, I enjoy reading, watching tv/movies, spending time outside, and listening to music!
