Hello! I am Olivia and counseling is my second career! I have been teaching high school English for the past 20 years in a neighboring district. Not only has this been an incredibly rewarding experience that has taught me so much about the joys and aches of being a teenager today, but it has also taught me a great deal about myself. I am also a parent of two children: my son is just starting high school and my daughter is in middle school. So, I spend my days in the company of adolescents from start to finish, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the middle of the pandemic when I was looking for care for my own children and found myself struggling to find a provider with availability. At that point it seemed clear to me that there was a crucial need, and as a person who has always had a passion for working with adolescents, I felt inspired to help fill it.
My undergraduate degree is in English Literature and English Writing with a Secondary Education Minor from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame. My first Master’s Degree, in Curriculum and Instruction, is from Concordia University; which is also where I am currently working on my second Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a lifelong learner who is still intimately familiar with the rewards and demands of being a student.
I am so excited to start my practicum and internship placement with Marvelous Minds. It truly feels like a place where care is provided with such love and compassion, and that is something I am so proud to be a part of.
